Top Beaches in the World - Poipu Beach, Kauai, Hawaii

Hawaii is a state in the United States in the central Pacific on the Hawaiian Islands.
The Island of Hawaii is sometimes called the Orchid Isle or the Volcano Isle, but to its residents it's always "the Big Island of Hawaii." Kauai is the oldest of the main Hawaiian Islands.

There are many worth exploring places in Kauai such as Anahola, Anini Beach, Haena, Hanalei , Princeville , Kapaa, Lihue and Poipu.

Poipu Beach - The most popular beach on Kauai’s south shore, Poipu Beach is special for families. Poipu Beach Park: Big, wide Poipu is actually two beaches in one; it's divided by a sandbar, called a tombolo. On the left, a lava-rock jetty protects a sandy-bottomed pool that's perfect for children; on the right, the open bay attracts swimmers, snorkelers, and surfers. Outside the swimming area, the ocean bottom slopes gently to overhead depths. The beach is a pretty curve of white sand about 1,000 feet long and 50 feet wide, with plenty of room for sandcastle building or strolling. Poipu Beach is mostly protected from large wave action by a rock formation a few hundred feet offshore from the middle of the beach. A sandspit running out to these rocks forms two perfect back-to-back crescents of sandy beach. The opposite end of one of these crescents terminates in a shallow, semi-enclosed pool that is ideal for children. A manned lifeguard tower helps parents keep an eye on the little ones.

Poipu Beach Park is the top choice for families. A series of curious reef arrangements flank every powdery sand beach with each featuring its own distinct coastal environment. Safety at Poipu Beach is considered the best with an on-duty lifeguard every day of the week. The cove is shallow and calm, perfect for little ones to splash around, while snorkelers young and old can walk west of the cove to a sandy bank and explore the fascinating reef.

Poipu Beach encompasses several beaches lining cloistral coves, gentle waves and clear, blue skies. Kauai diving and snorkeling is some of the best around Poipu Beach Park and perfect for beginners. Swimming at any of the beaches is a dream. With bath-like temperatures there's no need for a second of hesitation. An abundance of outdoor recreation can be enjoyed at any of the beaches. Boogie boarding, surfing, volleyball, wind surfing and more are all pastimes of beach-goers.

There are other excellent beaches to explore from Poipu Beach. Accessed from Scouting Horn Road, west of Poipu Beach Park, Baby Beach is a safe cove great for children. Shipwreck Beach is a sweeping stretch of white sand east of Poipu that has a few miles of coastal trails to explore. It's popular with surfers and has some Kauai resorts to choose from as well.

Poipu Beach is of course one of Kauai's most popular tourist destinations Hawaii and several hotels and vacation rentals abound. Condos nearby include Poipu Shores, Sunset Kahili, and Nihi Kai Villas to the east and Whaler's Cove, Kuhio Shores, and Prince Kuhio to the west.
